VP on Wikipedia
Visualizing Palestine is committed to producing accurate, well-sourced visual resources that help journalists, activists and interested members of the public understand the Palestinian experience. From our very first visual, we have licensed our infographics (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) to encourage their distribution to a wide audience while ensuring editorial control over our work.
However, this license prevents our work from being used on Wikipedia, which requires permission to adapt the media that is used on the site. Like the editors at Wikipedia, we rely on publicly available research from academics, experts, and journalists, and believe that accurate, publicly available information is a necessary precondition of our work. To facilitate the use of our work on Wikipedia, we are releasing some of our visuals under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
In addition, some of these graphics have been revised to comply with Wikipedia’s principles. We make these modifications because we believe that showcasing our work on Wikipedia expands public access to information on the Palestinian experience.
